I am a sickle cell warrior, and for some time now, I have also been battling a serious eye condition, retinal detachment.It started with my left eye, and despite trying everything I could, my sight in that eye is now completely gone. At Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), the doctors advised me to undergo surgery, but due to lack of funds, I couldn’t proceed. They later recommended I use protective glasses to safeguard my remaining eye.Recently, I started noticing worrying symptoms in my right eye, which means the condition may already be spreading. This is my only functioning eye, and I am terrified of losing my sight completely. Retinal detachment is a severe condition that must be treated urgently to prevent permanent blindness.I am humbly reaching out for your support. Your help will enable me to get the urgent retinal surgery I desperately need and also manage my health as someone living with sickle cell.Please, I don’t want to go blind.
